Financial assistance

For students who currently receive financial assistance from the OU, we offer this year on a limited, first-come-first-serve basis, an offer of a reduction of £50 if you can send a copy of the letter/email from the Open University confirming your reduced fees for the relevant course/module to the SRW email or postal address here.

Note that all rooms have one double bed. In the past we attempted an offer of twin rooms but there wasn't enough uptake to warrant opening the block so this offer has been withdrawn.

All rates are subject to full payment being received and cleared by us before 07:00 Friday 29 March 2019 (the "bookings deadline"). We are unable to hold places for students who are not fully paid up by that time.

Prices for additional night stays etc are detailed on the Booking Form when you log in. For other queries use the online messaging service or send an email to the @info address..

Refunds Policy

We require bookings to be in place, and paid for, by the bookings deadline. This is because of our contractual obligations to the venue, which require us to send them a final list of students four weeks in advance, with no later adjustments to that list being permitted.

At around the same time we make a final decision on which courses we will cover, which “freezes” the student:tutor ratio and therefore commits us to the cost of hiring tutors for the courses we decide to cover, and we also make our own final preparations for the weekend including deciding on the number of organisers in residence. Therefore your entire fee is committed at the bookings deadline, and if you have not cancelled by then, we cannot refund any of it to you.

For students who do cancel before the bookings deadline, refunds are available, less the £50 deposit. If we have to cancel the sessions corresponding to your course, we refund you in full. Exceptional circumstances such as personal or family illness will be dealt with on a case by case basis.

We only accept electronic bank transfers. Our bank details are in the main menu 'How to Pay' section . We accept bank-to-bank transfers of payments in one (full) or two (deposit and balance) lumps.

N.B. We might, in exceptional circumstances, accept cheque payment. Please contact the organisers using the @info address if you do not have the ability to raise a bank-to-bank transfer.

What You Pay For

About 78% of the standard weekend fee you pay us goes to the venue, and covers your accommodation and food, together with the hire of the teaching rooms and equipment. A further 18% goes towards the tutors' fee, accommodation, food and expenses. The remainder (about 4%) pays for us to provide organisers at the event, and covers expenses such as photocopying, guests and lecturers, as well as covering all expenses required to keep the organisation going through the year and to plan future Science Revision Weekends.
